There will be no CNG buses in Guwahati on the roads on Friday, presumably in protest. There were 100 of these new buses introduced recently. Following yesterday’s dismissal of two employees, this has occurred.

The drivers and conductors reportedly refused to report to work after two of their coworkers were fired following a surprise checking, leaving all of the new CNG buses in Guwahati at ISBT, Garchuk.

A vigilance team performed a surprise inspection of two CNG buses under the instruction of the state transport minister Parimal Suklabaidya to ensure strict adherence to the issuance of tickets to passengers.

The monitoring team had seen two workers—bus conductors—misappropriate money while the checks were being made. For failing to issue tickets, they were then dismissed from their jobs.

Two buses were noticed during the vigilance team’s surprise inspection, according to an order dated February 9 from the managing director’s office of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC).
