Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected Assam’s Charaideo Maidam as the nation’s submission for the UNESCO World Heritage Center this year from a total of 52 nominations.
In a press conference, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the nation can only send one submission, and this year is Assam’s year since Charaideo Maidam is being sent as the single candidature for the UNESCO World Heritage Center.
52 sites from all around India were up for nomination, however, the Center decided to recommend Charaideo Maidam for the heritage tag.
