Tezpur University alumni and accomplished scientist, Chayan Dutta, has been chosen to oversee the crucial launch control operations of the highly anticipated Chandrayaan-3 mission. Currently serving as a Scientist/Engineer-G at UR Rao Satellite Centre, Department of Space, Dutta has taken on the role of Deputy Project Director for the ‘On Board Command Telemetry, Data Handling & Storage System, Lander, Chandrayan-3.’

The Command and Data Handling subsystem, often referred to as the orbiter’s “brains,” will be under Dutta’s supervision, ensuring the smooth functioning of all spacecraft operations.

India’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, is scheduled for launch by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Friday, July 14.

Expressing his gratitude and enthusiasm, Dutta commented, “I feel deeply honored and humbled to have been entrusted with this responsibility. This mission marks a significant milestone for our nation and the global scientific community.”
