According to information made public by NCRB, Assam recorded 1269 murder cases in total in 2021, at a rate of 3.4 percent.
The state of Jharkhand has the highest murder rate (4.1%), followed by Haryana (3.8%) in terms of overall murder rates.
According to the number of crimes per 100,000 people, the murder rate is computed.
The NCRB reports that in 2021, the average annual murder rate across the country was 2.2%.
According to the study, Assam had 3558 murder cases reported between 2019 and 2021.
The Assam police recorded 1192 murder cases in total in 2021.
The figures show that there were unknown motives in 536 of the state’s murder cases, which was the greatest amount ever.
During this time, a total of 311 murders, 227 conflicts, and 105 property or land disputes were all the result of “personal revenge or hostility.”
Additionally, nine dowry murders were reported in the state last year.
