Under the supervision of special director general of police GP Singh, the Assam police have issued two helpline numbers to report any demands of a bribe by any government employee in the state.

The steps have been taken after two state government officials were arrested red-handed on Friday by the vigilance and anti-corruption wing of Assam police.

The Assam police have urged the general public to report cases of bribery immediately on the dedicated helpline numbers 0361-2462295 and 18003453767.

The anti-corruption wing along with Morigaon police laid a trap and arrested red-handed Barsha Bora Bordoloi, district excise superintendent of Morigaon while accepting bribe money.

As per the sources, she had demanded Rs 1 lakh from a person to provide a license for a wine shop in the district. She was arrested while accepting the bribe after a complaint was lodged against her.

Similarly, in another operation by the anti-corruption wing, Nabajyoti Sarma, dealing assistant office of the BEEO, Khuwang, Dibrugarh was held while accepting bribe money.

However, the director of vigilance and anti-corruption, GP Singh informed that certain lawful action is being taken against the duo.
