In Assam’s Dibrugarh district, an ambulance service for sick and injured cows was inaugurated.

On Friday, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu inaugurated the service, which will be run by Gopal Gaushala.

Also, in the year 2020, the ‘gaushala,’ or cow shelter, established a cow hospital.

“The ambulance service will pave the way for the speedy treatment of seriously ill and injured cows. I am happy that the ‘gaushala’ is improving the standard of treatment of injured and sick cows,” said Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu.

Nirmal Beria, the president of Gopal Gaushala, said that it was the Northeast’s first cow ambulance service.

He said, “We faced a lot of trouble in bringing sick cows to the shelter, so this ambulance service was started”

He added, “On several occasions, we could not save sick cows but now we hope that the ambulance service will help.”

The ambulance, which is equipped with a hydraulic lift, was brought in from Ahmedabad.
