The Assam Government may be awarding laptops and scooters to deserving HSLC & HS students for the last time, this year.
There has been a delay in the discussion because of the flooding in the state, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, adding that a meeting to discuss this will be held on July 5 or 6.
The Chief Minister stated that the HSLC-HS Examinations will no longer bear the same significance as they do today, thus this may be the last time that the Government will award the students.
The Chief Minister, in response to the Education Minister’s controversial statement, added, “It’s true. Students should choose the science and commerce stream for better careers. In government colleges, there are comparatively more students studying the arts than science and commerce.
The Chief Minister said, “The goal is to encourage them to choose the other two streams to pursue greater employment opportunities.”
