For posting a reel on social media, four female pupils at a school in the Karimganj district of Assam were suspended.

According to reports, a video of four female students from the Latu Model Higher Secondary School dancing to a well-known Hindi item song went viral on social media. The students were dressed in their school uniforms.

Reporters were informed by the school’s principal (in charge), Biswajyoti Dey, that the four eighth-grade students were placed on temporary suspension when the school authorities learned about the video (reel) on Thursday morning.

The principal said, “A committee has been constituted to inquire the matter. The students will remain suspended till the committee completes the inquiry and submits its report. A decision about the students will be taken after submission of the report by the committee.”

A local source claimed that the students created the reel following their participation in a programme on Tuesday at the school. The 10-second video was thereafter shared by the students via WhatsApp. From, where it went viral.

M. Das, the father of one of the suspended students, revealed to EastMojo on Friday that the reel was made outside the school’s entrance gate, but the final decision (following the investigation) is up to the school administration. Das remarked, “If my daughter is found violating any guideline, necessary action should be taken.”
