According to a survey done by Ormax Media, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is India’s most popular chief minister.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came out on top, beating out a number of other well-known Indian chief ministers.

While Chief Minister Sarma took first place, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came in second with a score of 64, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came in third with a score of 63.

With a score of 70, Chief Minister Sarma takes the lead.

Himanta Biswa Sarma often called ‘Mama’ by voters in Assam born on February 1, 1969, is serving as the 15th and current Chief Minister of the state.

In May 2021, Himanta Biswa Sarma became Assam’s 15th chief minister.

He has served in the Assam Legislative Assembly five times, representing Jalukbari.

In 2001, he won the Jalukbari seat in an assembly election for the first time. His seat winning streak is still going strong. In fact, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has managed to increase his winning margin with each passing assembly election.

On August 23, 2015, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He used to be a member of the Indian National Congress.
