Barak Democratic Front (BDF) chief—Pradip Dutta Roy was arrested on Saturday from Silchar in Assam, after a marathon questioning session in the removal of the Assamese hoarding case in Barak Valley.

Recently, Roy had called for the removal of posters and banners in the Assamese language from the Barak Valley.

A case was registered against Roy under IPC sections 153/295A/295A/295/124/506/505 after an FIR was lodged by an activist of the Hindu Yuva Parishad against the leader. The case was registered against him at Silchar Sadar Police station, Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur confirmed.

The SP interrogated Pradip Dutta Roy for about three hours after he was summoned by Cachar Police for questioning on Friday. He was summoned again on Saturday morning and was subjected to marathon questioning by the Cachar SP.

The BDF chief was reportedly interrogated at Silchar Police Station, regarding the ultimatum of 48-hours he had given, to replace the Assamese Poster with the Bengali ones.
