On Wednesday, November 24, the Assam Cabinet cleared the proposal to restructure the system of schools commemorating the implementation of the National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020).
Assam’s schools are to be restructured with the new 5+3+3+4 school structure of the National Education Policy of India.
As per the proposal cleared by the Assam Cabinet, from Class Nursery to Class 2 will be known as Foundation School. Classes 6, 7 and 8 would be known as Elementary School and Classes 9 to 12 would be known as Senior Secondary or Secondary School.
Furthermore, from January 1, 2023, the syllabus of Schools in Assam will also change as per the National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020).
