Assam’s Jamuna Boro wins Silver at the Elorda Cup in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on Monday.
She defeated Kazakhstan’s Anel Sakysh to go to the final of the Elorda Cup on Sunday. Jamuna, from Dhekiajuli in Assam’s Sonitpur district, defeated the home boxer by unanimous decision in the 54kg semi-final.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, wrote, “Heartiest congratulations Smt @Jamunaboro1 for winning the Silver at the Elorda Cup in Kazakhstan.”
“Your stellar show in boxing arena will serve as an inspiration to many youth in this country. May you continue to win laurels for India. Keep shining!” the chief minister added.
