The Higher Education Department has released a thorough guidance highlighting the adherence to the norms and criteria given out by the National Education Policy (NEP) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) in an effort to streamline the operation of universities and colleges in Assam.
The guidance’s major feature is the distribution of faculty members’ working hours.
The new guidance state that a faculty member must spend a total of 40 hours each week on university property. Because of this, faculty members’ working hours have been standardised at 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This policy aims to give faculty members enough time to focus on their administrative, teaching, and research responsibilities.
The guideline also directly tackles the subject of lunch breaks. The recommended Tiffin/Lunch Hours have been set from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM to be consistent with the procedures used by top colleges and research institutions.
