Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 11,140 Bihu dancers will participate in the international Bohag Bihu celebration on April 14.
The dancers will be selected from various districts of Assam with a ratio of 70% women and 30% men. They will undergo district-level training from March 27 to April 1 and a dress rehearsal from April 9-12.
The dancers will receive ₹3000 for attire and accessories and an additional ₹1000 per day for rehearsals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event, where they aim to set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records.
