Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, surprised the public during an event when he confirmed that his earlier promise of providing one lakh government job appointments was just a campaign statement, but it has now become a reality. This statement has gained attention, as it indicates a significant step forward in fulfilling a crucial electoral pledge made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the Assembly elections last year.

The Assam government had committed to delivering one lakh job opportunities to the people before completing its first year in office on May 10, 2023. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog recently reaffirmed this promise while addressing the state Assembly. Neog provided updates on the ongoing recruitment process for various departments, assuring the public that the administration remains dedicated to honoring its commitment of offering government employment to one lakh individuals.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister announced an impressive investment of Rs. 5,000 crore to support the transformation of over 2 lakh unemployed youths into job creators. This investment aims to empower young individuals to establish their own enterprises and contribute to the state’s economy.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent statement regarding the accomplishment of his job appointment promise reflects a shift from mere campaign rhetoric to tangible action. During the event, Sarma acknowledged the initial doubts surrounding the feasibility of fulfilling such a massive commitment, saying, “I didn’t even think I can give 1 lakh govt job appointment. I just said it due to elections. But now it’s a reality.”
