Assam’s flood-affected districts of Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong East, Karbi Anglong West, Hojai, and Cachar received a complimentary four-day unlimited plan from Reliance Jio on Friday as a “goodwill gesture.”
Unlimited free calls to any network, data services up to 1.5 GB per day, and 100 SMS per day for four days are included in the complimentary services.
According to Jio, qualifying users in Assam and the Northeast can get free calls and data for the next four days, starting on Friday, May 20.
In a message to Assam consumers, Jio said, “During last few days your service experience was impacted due to extreme weather conditions. As a goodwill gesture, we have applied a complimentary four-day unlimited plan on your number.”
In these difficult times, the company stated that it stands solidly with its customers. It said, “To help them stay in touch with their loved ones and remain connected, Jio has extended a complimentary 4 days unlimited voice & data pack and 100 sms per day.”
Floods and landslides prompted by the state’s persistent rains have impacted more than 6.62 lakh people across 27 districts in Assam. Over 48,000 people have taken shelter in 135 relief camps across Assam, with 113 distribution centres set up across the state to guarantee that basic supplies are not in short supply in flood-affected areas.
For Assam, the IMD has issued a red alert. The network is down in certain locations, making customers uncontactable, while in others, users are unable to recharge due to travel restrictions.
