On Monday, January 24, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) announced the establishment of a real-time monitoring Mobile App and a toll-free hotline for the public to contact directly about Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies Vaccinations (ABC-ARV) and other animal-related issues in the future.
The GMC organised a meeting with local animal welfare organisations to explore how to effectively undertake the sterilisation of stray animals. The meeting was held to discuss ABC-ARV programme difficulties.
The Corporation also intends to set up laparoscopic equipment for sterilising street animals, which will make the process easier and increase the number of sterilisations performed.
GMC will provide additional logistic support in order to respond to the maximum number of public complaints and to conduct pick-ups and sterilisations of street animals.
