The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has revealed plans for an Inter-District “Swachhata” competition aimed at making Assam one of the cleanest states in the country.
The announcement was made during a function in Khumtai, Golaghat district, as a tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for swachhata. The competition will award 100 crore rupees to the winning district, which will be used for development activities.
Sarma intends to make villages in Assam attractive to visitors by ensuring they are clean, beautiful, and have a pleasant atmosphere. The competition will be carefully planned to ensure its success. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve cleanliness and hygiene in the state.
